Since I just wrote about clinicals for 3rd semester, I wanted to give you the scoop about clinicals for 4th semester. They are called our "capstone" or "preceptorship". At the end of last semester, we were randomly assigned numbers and got to pick from a list of assignments where we wanted to go. I was kind of low on the list, and as I sat there watching all the labor and delivery assignments get picked by other students, I noticed that the pediatric unit had an opening. It was still there when my turn came and I picked that one! I am actually so excited to do my 96 hours there. I won't start that until March.
Our other assignment is a mental/community health clinical. We were given a list of places to choose from and then we picked our top three choices. I got my number 1 pick which is to a place called "Center for Change". It is an inpatient eating disorder place. There is something about this place that truly calls my name, even though I'm not sure why. I have thought I wanted to work there since I knew that I was accepted into nursing school. The only bummer is that I only get to do 30 hours there. I start there in the next week or so.
So far, the work load doesn't seem as heavy as it was in 3rd semester. I just can't believe that this is my last semester. I graduate on May 1 and then I will be set loose into this world to take care of people by myself. I am scared to death!!!

Yeah for you! You are almost there.
None of us are scared. I would be happy to have you as my nurse, you're going to be amazing!
I agree with Becca. I KNOW you will be amazing. Just as you are in so many other areas of your life. I am so proud of you!
YAY for being almost done!! I'm sure you are getting so excited! I can't WAIT for Nick's last semester.....next spring.
Yay Deanna- the end is finally in sight!! What a wonderful feeling!!! And like I've said a thousand times before- you are going to be one of the best nurses. Your whole being radiates love and compassion and that is what makes an unforgetable nurse. The rest will come with time, but you already have the part that can't be taught. We are so lucky to have you as a part of the nursing team!! I am so proud of you!!! Love ya!!
