Med/Surg

Some of you know that at Orem Community Hospital where I work, we do Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby (postpartum) and Med/Surg all on the same floor, plus we have a Level II NICU.  Back in March, my manager asked me to orient to Med/Surg. It is common for us to be cross-trained to be able to help wherever we are needed.  Anyway, this last month and a half were quite crazy around here. I had to work day shifts and had extra classes to take.  Yes, being able to sleep at night, every night, was nice but the stress/anxiety it causes for me to be gone when I need to be getting kids to school and home from school was just not worth it to me. I would much rather work 12 hour shifts when my kids are sleeping than when they are awake.  I really enjoy doing Med/Surg and like it so far. I love that I am getting extra nursing skills.  I also need to add a big thank you to Emily & Chris and a neighbor for helping me with getting Jacob to school during those days. And Julia, Becca, and Katie for holding down the fort during those afternoons that I was gone.
