I have the sweetest son

On the way home from school today, I told Jacob and Katie about how my dad saved my life. Jacob's coat had gotten caught in the door and he opened it while the car was still moving. Fortunately, I had just started moving, but that freaks me out when that happens. It took the whole ride home to tell them and we sat in the driveway talking until it was finished. I'll let you all know the story too and why I think my son is the sweetest.

When I was around 3 years old, my family was in a car accident. At the time it was my mom and dad along with me and my sister, Dina(2), and my brother, Danny(1). My dad's truck at the time opened by squeezing the door handle from inside the arm rest. Danny was sitting on my mom's lap and got his foot stuck in that arm rest. When my mom pulled it free, the door opened. My mom and Danny went first out the truck with Dina following them. They ended up in the road with bad injuries. My dad reached across to try to grab them and the truck swerved into an irrigation ditch through a barbed wire fence.

My dad ran out to check on my mom and siblings and my mom asked him where I was. He couldn't find me and went looking for me in the ditch. I don't know how long time passed but he saw a muddy, red tennis shoe floating in the water. He grabbed it and fortunately, I was on the other end. That was the only shoe I had on. As he ran back to my mom, he put me in his arm with me facing outward and started squeezing in a pumping motion. He said that I was just full of water and it spewed with each squeeze. I have no idea how long it took but I do know that I was awake in the ambulance because I have a vivid memory of seeing my mom's bloody face.

Now, I know that my dad is a pretty observant guy, but I'm sure he would give credit to the Spirit whispering to him where to find me and how to get that water out of me. When I explained that to Jacob and Katie, I watched the tears come to Jacob's eyes. Katie pointed it out and I told him that it was okay to cry. That story makes me cry too. Then, I told him that it makes grandpa cry too. He smiled at that. If Grandpa does it, then it must be alright. He then climbed into the front seat to give me a huge hug and tell me that he loves me.

Now, don't you agree? I have the sweetest son.
