Primary Children's Medical Center

I spent the last two Saturdays doing my rotation at Primary Children's Medical Center. What an amazing experience!! It is no surprise to anyone that knows me that I love children. I spent my first Saturday on a children's med/surg unit taking care of a girl with asthma and a teenager with diabetes. I learned a ton. I watched that teenager intensely since my niece Daesha was diagnosed at about the same age this girl was diagnosed. This girl was such an expert at how to give herself injections. It was amazing to me. I remember my aunt Vanetta, who also has it, asking us if we wanted to give her injections to her, but I was always too scared to do it. Little did I know!!!

Yesterday, I was on the surgical floor where they take care of children after surgery. My patients were babies and were so sweet. I fell in love with a particular little girl that I had a hard time leaving. I loved having the opportunity to take care of her. I'm not sure I will ever forget her.

Do you get to come up for air at the end of the semester or do you have school all spring and summer too? I miss spending time with you, but I think it's amazing what you are doing.

It's so much fun to find you and to read what you are doing!! It's a bit unnerving to know the exact places that you are talking about, but good to hear that you are loving it.
