I can't believe that I have just finished 2 semesters of nursing school. It seems just like yesterday that I was accepted. Since I haven't sent an update in awhile, I'll fill you all in on my last month. I got to do 8 clinicals in the Med/Surg unit, but since the hospital I was sent to didn't have that many patients we all got to rotate to different areas of the hospital.
I got to spend several days in the Mother/Baby area which I absolutely love. I keep saying it is because I feel so comfortable there. I was able to spend a day in the ER which didn't have any craziness like the TV show for which I was happy. I did get to learn how to take blood out of an IV line. IVs are next semester so I haven't gotten to do much with those so that was exciting. I also spent a day in Same Day surgery watching colonoscopies. I bet you are all so jealous! I spent a day in Rehabilitation where patients with head injuries or strokes or similar problems re-learn how to speak, walk, talk, etc. I really enjoyed this. I got to spend a day in the ICU. The ICU is always a sobering day for me. I spent several days in the Med/Surg unit. I really enjoyed my time spent there and really felt that at the end of it, I had the confidence I needed to be able to do the tasks that they ask of a 1 year completed nursing student.
Along with my clinical rotations, I had case studies, tests, practice questions for the NCLEX (the test we take to get our RN license.....they have us practice early), and professional hours (going to nursing lectures/seminars) to complete. Add all that with being a mom and a 2nd counselor in the primary, and you have one tired girl!! Thank you all for your support and encouragement but especially your patience with me for not being around as much as I used to be.

I am glad that things are going fast for you. I hope that Emily had a good Birthday. We missed you all at Daesha's. Hope that things will slow down soon for you to rest.
